Birth2Two

Birth2Two

Babies are almost entirely dependent on their immediate caregivers. A parent’s capacity to respond appropriately to the emotions and needs of their babies has a profound impact. Becoming a new parent is also a major transition, and there are times when every parent feels under pressure and may struggle to cope with the stresses and responsibilities of their role. For very young parents, or parents facing additional challenges in their lives such as mental illness or domestic abuse, this can be a particularly difficult time.

Evidence shows it is possible to prevent abuse and neglect and that pregnancy and infancy offer a unique window of opportunity to work effectively with families at risk. Birth2Two aims to help by providing regular in-home support to at-risk families to support expectant mothers and parents with new babies be more nurturing and understand the critical importance of responsive parenting in early child development. This support is available for up to two years.

Referrals for families with newborns to six months of age are eligible.
