Parenting interventions are social and behavioral programs intended to improve caregivers’ knowledge, attitudes, practices, and skills in order to promote optimal early child development.
These evidence-based interventions are designed to empower parents and caregivers with positive parenting techniques for the promotion of children’s health and well-being.
Our Family Educators offer a range of proven parenting supports and strategies that parents and caregivers can adopt to ensure that their children feel safe, loved, and able to fulfil their potential.
Parents participate in the classroom with their child and our teachers to learn about the challenges their child may be experiencing and how best to support them. Teachers work with our parents to help their child(ren) meet their individualized developmental goals.
Research studies prove that parenting is one of the strongest determinants of a child’s future development. Parents attend regularly scheduled groups and workshops to enhance the goal of developing healthier relationships with their children.
Headstart offers individual one-on-one counselling support for parents who may be struggling. By appointment only to Headstart parents, confidential weekly sessions are provided by a clinical social worker on site.
